Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Just got my proview S3, but...

While holding the S3 in the flashlight position, I'm getting some pretty intense noise from the motors... I really don't think I'm being extreme at all, as you can see in this video.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwPb24 … sp=sharing

Please advise.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

You might have missed the ProView S3 Usage Notice that we urged customers to checkout in our FedEx tracking number notice email.

http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4

If you have done all 4 required steps without problem, then there is the Option Tuning tutorial video that you can follow to try tune out the noise.

Also note that all lock mode is rarely used, try use pan-follow mode which is used in 99% of situations.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

No, I definitely followed all your instructions.

I've also tried to run the additional tuning from the app, but the app freezes when I press start or flush...

No offence, but telling me to not use a mode that was advertised isn't exactly a solution. I want to be able to use the ProView S3 as advertised. When I watch your videos that show the all lock mode breaking because it was pushed beyond operational range and compare it to my video, it's obvious that I'm not pushing my S3 NEARLY as far as your example video. I start to get crazy noise and vibration when I'm only rotated about 15-20 degrees from centre.

Come on...

You'll need to do better than, "use an different mode".

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

For some reason the optional tuning function finally worked for me. It seems to have suppressed a good amount of the vibration noise. Can I run that more than once without flushing to increase the tuning?

Also, I am getting the same vibration in the pan follow mode as well.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi Taolin,

Which phone are you using?

If not flushing the setting, the Optional Tuning effect is accumulative for different mode maneuvers.

Not sure if this is related to your case: if the phone is not fully pushed back against the holder leaving no gap, it'll have noise problem. Can click below figure to zoom.

The noise in the video provided in your last message seems more like sound of the slipper you wear, rather than the gimbal noise. Please see if can provide a video as 5th paragraph of Usage Notice describes, to allow us better understanding of your problem. http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi there,

So here are my answers:

I'm using an iPhone7 Plus. I've tried flushing the optional tuning before doing more tuning. It seems to improve things only slightly.

My phone is definitely seated properly in the mount...so that's not the issue here.

I really think there is something wrong with my gimbal. I'm a fairly technical person and I really can't seem to get my S3 to work without it making noise and vibrating even during minimal amounts of rotation.

What's the plan now?

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi Taolin,

To allow us determine if it's usage issue or gimbal problem, can you help make a video using another phone according to below steps to show how the gimbal is used?

1. Start from powered off state
2. Do pairing phone tuning
3. When done, continue do the maneuver that you say it vibrates even during minimal amounts of rotation. Turn on video recording of the phone on the gimbal at this stage, to better see small vibrations.

Two videos something similar to this would help: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwBD1W … sp=sharing

Thank you.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

@ Taolin The problem is not the phone it's a resonance problem of the gimbal.

The problem appears according to my opinion, when the back of the phone has a distance to and doesn't touch the back of the mounting.

Try it and give a note if it gets better if you to let the back touch the mounting more than you did (the video does only show the display...)

Cool to see, that the angle is horizontal, it's not with my phone yet...

Greets.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

I am having the exact problem many users are facing and the optional tuning doesn't make any difference.

Any suggestion to what could be done such as an exchange or refund? I cannot film anything with such issue... it's worst than filming with bare hand.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

For the record, I have app freezing and goes to home screen sometimes. I tried two Iphones 6 and 6 plus with two different IOS versions.
Recharging batteries now so I will try more testing with more detaisl later.
One phone did the upgrade to 100% but the bluetooth sync with the device does not work with either phone.

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi rrg123,

We used iOS 9 and 10 without problem. Please see if below sequence would help in your situation:

1. From phone's Bluetooth control, unpair the already paired ProView S3 device
2. Turn off Phone Bluetooth, kill ProView S3 App process, turn off gimbal
3. Turn on phone’s Bluetooth
4. Turn on gimbal
5. If you see ProView S3 is in Bluetooth list, press it so that the phone gets paired with gimbal
6. Launch ProView S3 app, then you should be able connect with gimbal

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi I have the same problem is likely a production error?
For me it also vibrates if the stick only there is.
I fully charged the batteries and all the other steps.
Nothing works!
I have a Iphone 7

Re: Some very big motor noises and vibrations

Hi TomeK,

It appears the gimbal may not be properly setup. Assume you have done the 4 steps mentioned in the Usage Notice before, http://bit.ly/2equgCn, could you use anther phone to record video of the gimbal showing below?

1. Begin from gimbal is powered off. Balance the phone.
2. Power on gimbal. Hold it on a desk to do pairing phone tuning.
3. When finished, change to pan follow mode, maneuver the gimbal like (4:42 ~5:15) https://vimeo.com/187616355 and see if it vibrates
4. Afterwards maneuver the gimbal in the way that you say it vibrates

When doing step 4, avoid holding in 45 degree angle position to maneuver the gimbal. Check out FAQ #1 before recording, http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … .php?id=37

A video like something on the left would help understanding possible cause, http://bit.ly/2g79Z7f
