Usability improvements in iOS app?

I think the usability of the iOS app could be improved in some areas:

  • When there is a firmware update available the app tells the user to "Reboot your ProView S3 in Software Update mode". If the S3 device is the only updatable device you own and you get to update it a few times every year you might remember how to enter Software Update mode. But in real life you have 10's or even 100's of different updatable devices and it is impossible to remember how many seconds you must press the power button. Or double click, or triple click... Or maybe a combination.
Instead, please tell the user exactly what to do. The best would of course be if the app could make the S3 enter Software Update mode by itself. Then no instructions would be needed.

  • When the app is connected to a device, the row with the device in the device list becomes gray. This might as well mean that the device has been disabled. Or is unavailable. Instead, put a checkmark on that row.

  • The Battery level shows the voltage of the batteries. Are you really supposted to know the combined voltage of the batteries and at what voltage the electronics in the S3 no longer works? If it shows 11V, is it full or almost empty? Instead, show how much is left in %.

  • The "Device: Connected" status is using the symbol for WiFi, when it's really Bluetooth that is used.

  • The Settings tab is an unordered mix of settings and tuning options. Please group these, so it's clear which are settings and where to turn if you need to calibrate the device.

Anders
